Critical Incident Response

A critical incident is a relatively sudden, unanticipated event or situation that falls outside of usual day-to-day life, which can be life-threatening or threatening to the health and safety of employees, students, or other groups of people.

A critical event or traumatic incident might include:

  • deprivation of liberty

  • severe verbal agression

  • robbery

  • unexpected death or serious injury

  • suicide or threatened suicide

  • natural disaster (fire, flood, erthquake, etc.)

  • bomb or hostage threat

  • explosion, gas or chemical hazard

When critical incident events happen, they are often emotionally overwhelming to those who witnessed the event or knew the people involved. Critical incidents cause significant physical, cognitive and emotional reactions. We provide critical incident response services, which encompass a variety of group and individual interventions after the incident.
